Tulsi Gabbard Steps Down from Trump Administration

(MENAFN) US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard has declared her resignation from President Donald Trump’s administration, attributing the decision to a serious medical situation affecting her family. She stated that her departure from office is scheduled for late June 2026.

“Unfortunately, I must submit my resignation, effective June 30, 2026,” Gabbard said in a latter she posted on US social media platform X. She further explained that her husband, Abraham, has been diagnosed with a highly uncommon form of bone cancer.

In her message addressed to Trump, Gabbard expressed appreciation for the opportunity to serve in the intelligence leadership role over the past eighteen months. Trump, in a closely timed post on his own platform Truth Social, acknowledged and confirmed her exit from the administration.

“Unfortunately, after having done a great job, Tulsi Gabbard will be leaving the Administration on June 30th,” Trump said. He also indicated that Principal Deputy Director of National Intelligence Aaron Lukas would temporarily assume her responsibilities in an acting capacity.

The development had already been circulated in US media prior to the official confirmation.
